Julie Loveny is a Lecturer at the School of Allied Health, The University of Western Australia, with over 30 years of experience in mental health education, social work, and organizational consultancy. She co-founded This Working Life, a consultancy focused on workplace mental health, and collaborates with Curtin Business School on the Thrive@Work initiative. Her career spans roles in government, community organizations, and the mining sector, emphasizing leadership development and trauma-informed practices.
- Education: BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Administration, Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Studies (University of Plymouth)
Her research focuses on workplace mental health, stigma reduction in healthcare, mixed-methods evaluation, and graduate attribute development. Recent projects include cross-sector studies on FIFO work arrangements and contributions to Australia's State Suicide Prevention Plan.
Julie received the Excellence in Teaching Award (2021) and Early Career Citation (2020). She introduced Brené Brown's Daring Way™/Dare to Lead™ programs across UWA's School of Allied Health, training all staff by 2021.
She led the SAH Community Engagement Committee and serves as Director of the Australian Association of Social Work (active until 2021). Her work aligns with UN SDGs for Education and Wellbeing.
