Summary of Julie Kruse
Dr. Julie Kruse is a Professor and Project Director of the HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity ASPIRE Program at Oakland University’s School of Nursing. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan and additional certifications in Nursing Education and International Health. Her work focuses on nursing workforce diversity, student retention, implicit bias reduction, and public health nursing. Dr. Kruse has secured over $8.5 million in grant funding, including a $2.19 million HRSA grant (2021-2025) aimed at increasing graduation rates for nursing students from underrepresented backgrounds. She serves as Chairperson of the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Nursing Section and is a member of the AACN Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Network.
