Julie Harting is a composer and Adjunct Professor of Music at Columbia University and Seton Hall University with a career spanning since the early 1980s, having created over two dozen compositions including orchestral works, string quartets, and chamber music. Her creative output is characterized by emotional depth and technical mastery within the atonal western art music tradition.
Her educational background includes advanced degrees in music composition:

Harting's research focuses on contemporary classical composition, drawing inspiration from the Second Viennese School, Bach, Beethoven, and jazz, with recent experimentation in quartertone techniques as evidenced by works like "Zephyr" for quartertone flute. Her music demonstrates emotional intensity and technical innovation across diverse forms.
