Julie Cwikla serves as the T.W. Bennett Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Center for STEM Education at the University of Southern Mississippi, leading initiatives to improve STEM learning opportunities through nationally funded research programs serving children, teachers, and families.
She holds advanced degrees in Mathematics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, and Mathematics Education, establishing her interdisciplinary expertise in STEM fields.
Her research spans STEM Education, Mathematics Education, and Teacher Training with emphasis on practical implementation. Key projects include JROTC STEM Workforce development, Early Childhood Mathematics Literacy programs, Mississippi Hackathon for Girls, CyberTEAM cybersecurity initiatives, GenSea Blue Economy pathways, and Statewide VEX Robotics Camps addressing critical gaps in military-affiliated youth education, gender equity, and coastal community development.
Her scientific contributions have earned recognition through:

Her book Good to Great Grant Writing has become essential reading for researchers, praised for transforming grant success rates through practical frameworks. She actively engages public audiences through TEDx Women talks on math phobia and national speaking engagements.
