Alice Steimle is an Instructional Assistant Professor of Teacher Education and Director of the Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) at the University of Mississippi. She has worked at the CMSE for 17 years, progressing from Project Manager to Associate Director before becoming Director in 2021. Her leadership focuses on advancing STEM education in Mississippi through collaboration between K-12 schools and universities, promoting research-based teaching methods, and fostering student engagement in STEM fields.
Steimle holds an M.S. (2004) and Ph.D. (2005) in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi. Her work emphasizes professional learning for educators and K-12 STEM experiences, aiming to strengthen statewide STEM partnerships. She is a founding member of the Mississippi Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (MAMTE) and the Mississippi Mathematics Specialist Network (MSMSN). Active in community service, she serves as Vice President for Community Engagement with the United Way of Oxford & Lafayette County.
As Director of the CMSE, Steimle oversees divisions focused on professional learning and K-12 STEM initiatives, driving the center’s mission to enhance mathematics and science education through innovative programs and partnerships.
