Julie Champion is the William R. McLain Endowed Term Professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California Santa Barbara and completed NIH postdoctoral training at Caltech. As Faculty and Associate Chair for Graduate Studies, her work spans protein engineering, nanostructured biomaterials, and biocatalysis applications.

Her research focuses on creating self-assembled protein nanomaterials for immunotherapy, cancer treatment, and industrial biocatalysis. Key projects include:

- Enzyme-immobilizing protein-inorganic hybrids
- Hexameric antibody delivery nanocarriers
- AvrA-based anti-inflammatory therapies
- Universal subunit vaccines via nanoparticle platforms
