Dr. Julie Bees is a Professor of Piano and Director of the Konrad Wolff-Ilse Bing Chamber Music Endowment Award at Wichita State University's College of Fine Arts, School of Music. She is a founding member of The Orfeo Trio, performing across Southeast Asia and internationally. Her career spans solo performances with orchestras like the SAR Philharmonic and WSU Symphony Orchestra, as well as collaborations with renowned ensembles such as the Vermeer Quartet and American Chamber Players.
Education: B.M. from Peabody Conservatory (1974), Doctor of Musical Arts from Hochschule für Musik, Vienna (1982). Mentors included Leon Fleisher, Maria Curcio-Diamand, and Konrad Wolff.
Research interests focus on piano performance, chamber music, and pedagogy. Her international performances include venues in Europe, Asia, and the U.S., including Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall. She is a dedicated teacher whose students have achieved notable success, including a bronze medal at the Van Cliburn Competition.
