Dr. Juliane Adrian is a researcher at the Jülich Research Centre, affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Simulation (IAS) and its Civil Safety Research (IAS-7) department since 2017. Her work focuses on empirical studies of pedestrian dynamics, particularly in dense crowds and bottleneck scenarios.
Research highlights include:
- Investigating density-velocity and density-flow relationships (fundamental diagrams) in crowd movements
- Quantifying individual required space and limb movement through 3D motion capture with inertial sensors
- Developing data analysis tools and scripts for experimental processing
- Integrating social-psychological factors into physical models of crowd behavior
Key projects she contributes to are:
- CrowdDNA (EU-funded)
- CroMa (BMBF-funded)
