Ann Katrin Boomers is a doctoral researcher at the Jülich Research Centre, affiliated with the Civil Safety Research department under the Institute for Advanced Simulation (IAS-7). Her work focuses on analyzing pedestrian movement patterns and trajectories during bottleneck navigation using inertial 3D motion capturing and camera data.
- Investigates differences in individual vs. crowded movement dynamics
- Studies the influence of spatial structures and flow characteristics on pedestrian behavior
- Compares movement patterns across cultural backgrounds
In the CroMa (Crowd Management in Verkehrsinfrastrukturen) project, she coordinates field studies, conducts large-scale pedestrian experiments, and adapts tracking methods in the software PeTrack to meet project-specific requirements. Her research contributes to understanding urban mobility challenges and improving safety infrastructure.
