Juliana García-Mejía is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she works on developing cutting-edge astronomical instrumentation to study exoplanets and their host stars. She holds a PhD from Harvard University (2023) and serves as Principal Investigator of the Tierras Observatory, a high-precision photometer located in Arizona.
- PhD in Astronomy from Harvard University (2023)
- Co-investigator of the FIOS project
- Founder of Tierras Observatory outreach initiatives
Her research focuses on exoplanet detection through advanced photometric instrumentation, with key contributions to ground-based observatory design. She led thermal upgrades for TRES spectrograph and helped install KiwiSpec on MINERVA during her graduate studies.
As a 2022 Harvard Horizons Scholar, she refined public science communication skills. Her outreach efforts emphasize Latin American student engagement in astrophysics, reflected in the Tierras Observatory's Spanish-language branding and educational competitions.
