Ran Bechor is a Preceptor in Modern Hebrew at Harvard University's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC). He holds a B.A. in Philosophy & Theater and an M.A. in Sociology & Anthropology from Tel Aviv University. A versatile educator, playwright, and theater director, Bechor’s work intertwines theater, education, and philosophy. He previously served as the principal of Ofek – a Jerusalem-based center for gifted children – and co-founded the Arabic language school through theater in Jaffa. He is the artistic director of Adam Theater, a nonprofit children’s theater focusing on Hebrew cultural themes. His pedagogical strategies emphasize differentiated instruction, interaction, and process-oriented learning.
Bechor’s theater projects include Shout Theater, a Jewish-Arab teen community initiative addressing at-risk youth, and 'Schreber,' which won the Akko International Fringe Theatre Festival (2016). His educational philosophy prioritizes fostering critical thinking and questions over prescriptive answers. He has taught diverse populations across ages and backgrounds, integrating theater into language acquisition and social studies.

Grants & Advising: His work in educational leadership includes roles at the Mandel School and managing theater departments in schools. He developed individualized study plans for 1,400 students at Ofek and pioneered a psychoanalytic-informed theater methodology at Shout Theater. His current Harvard courses employ theater-based techniques for Hebrew language instruction.
Labs/Teams: Co-founded Adam Theater (children’s theater) and Shout Theater (community activist theater). Previously led the Theater Department at Hof HaSharon High School, overseeing annual productions and student dialogues.
