معرفی
Professor Julian Ketley is a Professor of bacterial genetics at the University of Leicester, serving as Deputy Director of the Midlands Integrative Biosciences Training Partnership (MIBTP) in Leicester and Director of Postgraduate Research at the College of Life Sciences (CLS). His career spans academic research, postdoctoral training, and leadership roles in microbiology and genetics.
Education:
- PhD in Microbiology from the University of Birmingham (1986), supervised by Prof. Harry Smith and Dr. John Stephen, focusing on Clostridium difficile toxins A and B.
- BSc in Biological Sciences with specialization in Microbiology from the University of Birmingham.
Research Interests: Professor Ketley’s work centers on bacterial genetics and pathogenesis, particularly the role of toxins in Clostridium difficile and Vibrio cholerae. His research includes contributions to the development of live attenuated vaccines, such as the Vibrio cholerae strain CVD103HgR, and the study of Zot toxin. His expertise bridges clinical microbiology and molecular genetics, with applications in vaccine design and microbial pathogenesis.
Grants & Leadership: He holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and has led postgraduate training initiatives through his roles at MIBTP and CLS. His leadership focuses on integrating interdisciplinary research and training programs.
Labs/Teams: His research is conducted within the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology and collaborates with institutions like the University of Maryland’s Center for Vaccine Development.
