California Institute of Technology (Caltech)معرفی
Julian G. West is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Rice University, leading the West Laboratory focused on sustainable chemical innovations. His research emphasizes developing green synthesis methods, catalytic systems using earth-abundant elements, and advanced tools for cancer therapeutics. Previously, he was an Alumni Resnick Postdoctoral Fellow at California Institute of Technology, working with Profs. Harry Gray and Brian Stoltz on low-carbon fuel electrocatalysis.
Education: BSc in Chemistry from University of British Columbia (Vancouver) and PhD from Princeton University. His work bridges organic synthesis, catalysis design, and application in oncology, aiming to overcome bottlenecks in drug development via C–H functionalization and bioconjugation technologies.
Awards:
- Alumni Resnick Postdoctoral Fellow (2017)
Lab & Location: The West Research Lab is housed in the Biosciences Research Collaborative at Rice University, Houston, TX. Research themes include new reactions, catalysis design leveraging underutilized elements, and chemical tools for cancer diagnostics/therapeutics. The lab fosters an inclusive innovation culture where all members contribute ideas.
