California Institute of Technology (Caltech)معرفی
Hoimin Jung is a Research Fellow in Chemistry at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), part of the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, working in the Peters group. He holds the 2024 Resnick Pioneer Postdoctoral Fellowship. His research focuses on sustainable catalysis, particularly developing Earth-abundant metal catalysts and renewable energy-driven systems for small molecule activation. Previously, he conducted Ph.D. research at KAIST (South Korea), exploring transition metal-catalyzed C-H amination and catalytic intermediates.
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry from KAIST, South Korea.
Research interests emphasize photocatalytic processes, nitrene chemistry, and C-H functionalization. His work bridges mechanistic understanding with practical applications in sustainable chemistry. Recent studies include rhodium and iridium-catalyzed amidation reactions, samarium-mediated electrocatalysis, and enantioselective synthesis of β-lactams.
Key contributions include mechanistic insights into nitrene transfer reactions and the development of ligand systems enabling selective C-H functionalizations. His publications highlight advancements in energy-efficient catalytic strategies.
