Alexandra Strom is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Smith College. She previously held postdoctoral positions at MIT and conducted doctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, University of Illinois, and University of Oslo.
- Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley
- A.B., Harvard College
Her research focuses on organometallic chemistry, catalysis, and synthetic chemistry, particularly through mechanistic studies using physical organic and synthetic chemistry tools. Current projects involve aromatic ring formation and C-N/C-C bond creation.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in iron-catalyzed amination reactions, nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling, and mechanistic analyses of palladium and rhodium systems. Key themes include transition metal catalysis, reaction optimization, and nitrogen-containing compound synthesis.
Her work bridges experimental and computational approaches to develop novel catalytic reactions with applications in chemical synthesis and materials science.
