Dr. Julia Tomassetti is a Lecturer in Law at Swinburne University of Technology's School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship. She holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and a PhD in Sociology from UCLA. Her research focuses on labour law, digital platforms, and political economy, with notable work on algorithmic management, employment status disputes, and migrant workers in criminal justice systems. She teaches Torts and Employment Law and has supervised PhD students on topics like cryptocurrency regulation and autopilot liability. Dr. Tomassetti has held fellowships at Georgetown University, SUNY Buffalo, and the Maurer School of Law. She is affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society (ADM+S) and the Platform Economies Research Network (PERN).
