Julia Tedroff serves as Program Manager for the bachelor's program in photography and University Lecturer at the Unit for Film, Photography and Literary Design within HDK-Valand at the University of Gothenburg.
Her research interests center on the historical and theoretical dimensions of photography, with particular emphasis on how photographic education constructs historical narratives. She investigates the intersection of photography with architecture, feminist theory, and pedagogical approaches in art education. Her scholarly work examines the relationship between visual representation and material culture, the impact of feminist thought on photographic practices in Sweden, and the documentation of women photographers in media history.
Analysis of Julia's publications reveals a consistent scholarly trajectory exploring how photography functions as both documentary tool and creative medium within cultural, historical, and gender-related contexts. Her research demonstrates how photographic education shapes historical understanding and how architectural spaces are mediated through photographic representation. She has made significant contributions to documenting women's roles in Swedish photographic history and the evolution of photographic pedagogy.
At the University of Gothenburg, Julia also works at the unit for Pedagogical Development and Interactive Learning (PIL) as course manager for PIL102 for the Faculty of Arts and supervisor for PIL103. She primarily teaches the history and theory of photography and supervises students in writing and design projects, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application in visual arts education.
