Julia Scott is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Stirling. She serves as Director of Learning, Teaching, and Quality Enhancement, overseeing undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes across three campuses. Her roles include academic leadership in curriculum development, quality assurance, and student support systems. She chairs the School Curriculum Development Group and contributes to committees such as the School Undergraduate Programme Sub-committee and the University Quality Enhancement Committee.
Her teaching spans BSc Nursing, Midwifery, Professional Practice, and MSc Advanced Practice, focusing on acute care nursing, intensive care management, pathophysiology, and advanced clinical assessment skills. Her research interests include nurse education methodologies, roles of nurses in healthcare, and complementary therapies in cancer care. She has published on the latter topic and led a literature review on quality indicators in nursing practice.
Dr. Scott actively participates in professional organizations (RCN, BACCN) and collaborates with clinical partners to align education with healthcare policies. She advises students in Honours and Master’s programmes and contributes to institutional initiatives like the Enhancement Led Institutional Review (ELIR) Steering Group.
