Dr. Barbara Farquharson is an Associate Professor in Adult Nursing at the University of Stirling, affiliated with the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Research Unit (NMAHP) within the Faculty of Health Sciences & Sport. She leads behavioral science research focused on cardiovascular care, particularly addressing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest response and patient delay in acute coronary syndrome.
Her research is funded by the British Heart Foundation NMAHP Career Development Fellowship (2021-2024), examining how behavioral science can improve ambulance call-taker CPR facilitation. She has clinical experience as a British Heart Foundation Cardiac Liaison Nurse and Team Leader at NHS 24, with a strong commitment to high-quality nursing evidence generation. She supervises MRes and PhD students and chairs the RCN International Nurse Research Conference Scientific Committee.
