She has been actively engaged in multiple research projects focusing on ethical implications of dementia prediction, Alzheimer's disease diagnostics, and genetic testing since 2016. Her current work involves the PREPARE project (since August 2023) examining ethical implications of early detection of Alzheimer's disease in primary care settings.
Her educational background includes:
- Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Göttingen (2016), with thesis on colorectal cancer treatment communication
- Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Bremen (2010)
- Erasmus exchange at Stockholm University (2009-2010)
Dr. Perry's research centers on the ethical dimensions of predictive medicine, particularly in dementia and genetic contexts. Her work examines how patients understand medical information, make health decisions, and navigate complex diagnostic processes. She investigates the ethical challenges in physician-patient communication, particularly regarding risk disclosure and informed consent in predictive diagnostics. Her approach combines empirical social research methods with philosophical ethics analysis to develop practical recommendations for healthcare professionals.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to bioethics literature, with a notable focus on Alzheimer's disease prediction ethics, advance directives in dementia research, and stakeholder engagement in developing counseling standards. Her work has been recognized with the GöVIP award for clinical science significance.
She has received significant research funding, including €150,000 from the German Alzheimer Society for the 'Well Advised' project developing standardized counseling models for early Alzheimer's diagnosis. Her research has directly influenced professional discourse through stakeholder conferences that produced consensus statements on dementia prediction ethics.
Dr. Perry actively contributes to medical education, having developed teaching concepts on dementia prediction ethics and adapted medical ethics instruction during the pandemic. She has presented her findings at numerous national and international conferences including the DGPPN Congress, World Congress of Bioethics, and Alzheimer Europe conferences.
