Julia Koricheva is a Professor of Ecology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research focuses on forest diversity-ecosystem functioning, plant-herbivore interactions, and meta-analysis methodologies. She leads the Koricheva Lab and is associated with the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour.
Her work includes long-term experiments in Finland (Satakunta forest diversity experiments) examining tree species diversity and genetic diversity impacts on ecosystem processes. She has contributed to global networks like TreeDivNet and funded projects from EU, NERC, and others. Her research on plant resistance mechanisms and meta-analysis methods has advanced ecological theory and policy.
She has edited influential works like the Handbook of Meta-Analysis in Ecology and Evolution and serves on editorial boards for journals including Proceedings of the Royal Society B and Functional Ecology. Awarded the Marsh Award for Ecology (2021), her work aligns with UN SDGs for climate action and biodiversity conservation.
Current projects include assessing tree diversity's role in pollinator support and addressing climate change impacts through tree-based solutions.
