Julia Kooi Talen

Julia Kooi Talen is a Graduate Instructor teaching college composition at the University of Missouri, where she is also a PhD candidate in progress and EGSA Treasurer. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Northern Michigan University (2023), an MSW from the University of Denver, and a BS from New York University (2017).

Her research and teaching intersect queer studies, ecofeminism, and creative writing, with a focus on art history, curation, and cross-disciplinary approaches to literature. She identifies as a queer ecofeminist poet and essayist, integrating these perspectives into her pedagogy and literary work.
