Julia Gruner

Julia Gruner serves as a Visiting Professor in Artistic Fundamentals for the winter semester 2025/26, where she explores the experimental boundaries of painting through material science and spatial dynamics.

Her academic foundation includes:

• Fine Art studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Prof. Katharina Grosse
• Illustration and Communication Design at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW)

Gruner's research investigates paint's chemical, physical, and aesthetic properties through interdisciplinary lenses, merging scientific inquiry with art-historical frameworks and perceptual theory. Her practice critically examines spatial relationships between artworks and environments while incorporating everyday objects, advancing contemporary discourse in experimental painting and installation art.
