Julia Bünnagel

Julia Bünnagel is a Professor of Perception and Design Theory at the Peter Behrens School of Arts, Hochschule Düsseldorf (University of Applied Sciences). Her academic work intersects with contemporary art, sculpture, and sound-based installations. Since 2023, she has held a full-time professorship, focusing on the interplay between sensory experience and artistic design.

• Studied at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Prof. Anthony Cragg and Prof. Hubert Kiecol (1998–2006)

Her research explores sound art, installation design, and spatial perception, often through collaborative and immersive projects. She has received multiple grants and awards for her artistic contributions, including the Luise-Straus-Preis des LVR (2018) and Stipendium der Stiftung Kunstfonds (2019, 2021, 2022).

Her work spans physical installations, sound performances, and collaborative interventions in public spaces.
