Tobias Hantmann

Tobias Hantmann is a Professor of Painting and Graphic Practice in the Department of Art at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, where he teaches in the Art Education program. He joined in November 2023 after serving as a visiting professor (2015–2019) and interim professor (2022–2023). Born in 1976, he lives in Berlin and Düsseldorf.

His research explores:

• Experimental material practices in painting and graphic arts
• Interplay between visual creation and linguistic analysis
• Art pedagogy emphasizing open-ended experimentation
• Integration of everyday experiences into artistic processes

His artistic work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Museum Morsbroich, Sammlung Philara, and Kunstmuseum Ravensburg.
