Dr. Julia Finkelstein serves as Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition in Cornell University's College of Human Ecology and Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, with additional affiliation at St. John's Research Institute in Bengaluru, India. She directs the Maternal and Child Nutrition Program and co-directs the Joan Klein Jacobs Center for Precision Nutrition and Health and WHO Collaborating Centre at Cornell.

- Master and Doctor of Science in Epidemiology and Nutrition from Harvard University
Dr. Finkelstein's research centers on one-carbon metabolism in women's health across the lifespan, investigating iron, vitamin B12, and folate roles in anemia and pregnancy outcomes through randomized trials and population studies in clinical and community settings. Her work develops interventions to improve maternal and child health in high-risk populations globally.
Her distinguished contributions have earned recognition through:

As Program Director for NIH-funded maternal and child nutrition training and clinical lead for the PORTENT diagnostics center, she mentors students and secures major grants from NIH, CDC, USDA, and USAID. Current projects include fortified salt trials for anemia prevention, gut microbiome studies, periconceptional surveillance, and biomarker development in India.
She leads the Finkelstein Laboratory focused on maternal-child nutrition interventions and serves as Chair of FASEB's One-Carbon Metabolism committee, actively accepting graduate and undergraduate students for 2025-2026.
