Jules Findley is a Lecturer and Principal Lecturer in the School of Art and Media at the University of Brighton, affiliated with the Creative Ecologies Research Excellence Group and the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing. She holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art (2018) and academic qualifications in Learning and Teaching (Anglia Ruskin University). Her research focuses on embodied materiality, grief, and sustainable practices in textiles and fashion, with exhibitions at international venues like the Shanghai International Paper Biennale. She has co-led AHRC-funded projects on sustainable materials in creative industries and collaborated with institutions globally. Her teaching spans fashion, textiles, and design education, including course development for award-winning programs like the BA Hons Fashion Communication with Business Studies.
Key research interests include maternal loss, reuse of materials, and circular economy principles in fashion. She has supervised multiple PhD students exploring topics such as clothing reuse and sustainable textile recycling. Awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributions to impactful educational programs. Her creative works merge art with environmental themes, showcased in exhibitions and public festivals.
Findley’s career bridges academia and industry, with prior roles as a fashion designer, animator, and trend consultant for brands like Loewe and Fitch. She actively engages in knowledge exchange initiatives, including consultancy for sustainable textile projects and international collaborations.
