Sarah Elwick is a Senior Lecturer in Professional Practice for Fashion and Textiles at the University of Brighton, within the School of Art and Media. She also serves as the Course Leader for Textiles, bridging academic teaching with industry practice to prepare students for professional careers in sustainable fashion.
Her academic background includes:
- MA in Menswear Knitwear from the Royal College of Art (2005)
- 1st Class Honours in Textile Design (specialising in Knitwear) from Winchester School of Art (2003)
Sarah's research focuses on circular and sustainable practices within the fashion industry, specifically investigating innovative methods for reusing, recycling, and repurposing textile waste. As a practicing textile designer and maker specializing in knitwear, she develops transparent manufacturing processes that address environmental challenges at global and local scales.
She integrates these research principles directly into her teaching, equipping students with practical tools to solve industry sustainability issues through creative problem-solving and modern production techniques.
