Dr Judy Purton is a Senior Lecturer and Professional Practice Placement Coordinator at York St John University’s School of Science, Technology and Health. Specializing in neurology and stroke rehabilitation, her academic career began in 2003 after a clinical background leading neurosciences teams in stroke rehabilitation, neuro-rehabilitation, and spinal injuries. She teaches anatomy, neurology, reflective practice, and placement preparation across undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy programs. Her research focuses on stroke survivors’ experiences of upper limb dysfunction, self-management in multiple sclerosis, and neuro-rehabilitation practices. She is an inaugural member of Keele University’s Applied Clinical Research in Neuro-rehabilitation Group.

Professional Activities: A Chartered Physiotherapist with memberships in CSP, HPC, and the Association of Physiotherapists in Neurology, she contributes to both clinical and academic communities. Her leadership in placement coordination ensures strong ties between university and healthcare partners.
