Jun.-Prof. Dr. Judith Rauscher is a Junior Professor of American Studies at the University of Cologne's Englisches Seminar I. She specializes in American Literature and Culture, with a focus on ecopoetry, speculative fiction, and gender studies. Her research explores intersections of environment, migration, and technoscience, interrogating how these influence societal structures and identities. Rauscher is a co-editor of gender forum: An Internet Journal for Gender Studies and actively contributes to academic networks like the DFG-funded 'Energy and Literature' research group.
Her recent work includes the book Ecopoetic Place-Making: Nature and Mobility in Contemporary American Poetry (2023) and editorial leadership for gender forum's 2024 issue on 'Queering Postcolonial Worlds.' She frequently presents at international conferences, addressing topics such as single-sex societies in speculative fiction and gendered citizenship in contemporary literature.
Rauscher advocates for inclusive academic spaces, co-organizing workshops like 'Gender and Environment in Speculative Fiction' and mentoring early-career researchers through gender forum's Early Career Researchers issues.
