معرفی
Judith Pratt is a Visiting Professor at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde. She co-directs the Psychiatric Research Institute of Neuroscience in Glasgow (PsyRING), a collaboration between Strathclyde, Glasgow University, and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Her work focuses on molecular and neural systems underlying mental health and disease, particularly schizophrenia, cannabinoids, and translational drug discovery.
Pratt holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the Institute of Psychiatry (1982). Her research identifies novel therapeutic targets (e.g., serominic) and validates mechanisms linking genetic risk factors like MAP2K7 to schizophrenia. She explores interactions between cannabis constituents (THC, cannabidiol) and environmental factors like prenatal infection and adolescent THC exposure.
Key projects include a multi-center translational medicine grant with Pfizer on DISC1 mouse models and leadership in the CeNsUS (Centre for Neuroscience) at Strathclyde, advancing network science applications to brain systems and medical devices for deep brain stimulation. She engages in public science outreach, including Glasgow Science Festival and schools programs.
- Awards: BAP Public Communication Prize (2018).
- Grants: Collaborations with Pfizer, Medical Research Council (MRC), and others on translational medicine and genetic risk studies.
- Teams: Leads PsyRING and CeNsUS, fostering multidisciplinary collaborations in neuroscience and drug development.
