She holds multiple leadership roles, including Director of Cardiac Imaging (Nuclear, MR, CT) at VHA-Connecticut, Director of the Cardiometabolic Prevention Clinic, and Associate Director of the Preventive Cardiovascular Health Program. Her clinical focus includes cardio metabolic prevention and advanced cardiac imaging. She oversees the VISN1/VHA-New England cardiology clinical trial network, coordinating trials in coronary artery disease, vascular disease, heart failure, diabetes, and dyslipidemia.
Education:
- B.A. in Biology and History from Dartmouth College (1997)
- M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2001)
- M.P.H. in Clinical Effectiveness from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (2008)
- Internal Medicine Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital (2004)
- Cardiology and Advanced Imaging Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (2007–2009)
Research Interests: Her work spans cardiovascular imaging innovations, clinical trial leadership, and cardio metabolic prevention strategies. She investigates imaging biomarkers for cardiovascular disease, the impact of psychological stress on cardiac function, and optimizing cardiovascular care models in veteran populations. Her research bridges clinical practice and translational science, particularly in leveraging multimodal imaging for early disease detection and risk stratification.
Publications: Dr. Meadows has authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles focusing on cardiac imaging, clinical trial outcomes, and cardiovascular prevention. Recent work highlights advancements in MRI-derived diastolic dysfunction evaluation and the role of imaging in mental stress-induced ischemia.
Awards:
- Women in Cardiology Travel Award (2021)
- Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Fellowship (2021)
- Teacher of the Year, Yale Cardiology Fellowship Program (2021)
- Great Catch-High Reliability Award (VHA-Connecticut, 2021)
Grants & Mentoring: She leads grants focused on cardiac imaging and clinical trials in high-risk populations. As Fellowship Director for Yale’s Advanced Cardiac Imaging program, she mentors trainees in translational research and clinical excellence.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Yale Cardiac Imaging Program and the VA Connecticut Health Care System’s clinical trial network. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on initiatives such as the Cardiometabolic Prevention Clinic and the MENTOR study optimizing mentorship in cardiology training.
