- Education: Ph.D. & M.A. from Duquesne University; B.A. from St. Joseph's and Immaculata Universities
Sister Judith specializes in phenomenology, Edith Stein studies, American philosophy, and existentialism. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creating a "community of learners" through transformative pedagogy, focusing on connecting philosophy to real-life experiences. She co-coordinates Immaculata’s annual Edith Stein lecture series and participates in the Academy for Metacognition and CASTLE advisory board.
Her research explores the intersection of Edith Stein's philosophy with contemporary teaching practices, particularly through the lens of 21st-century educational partnerships. A central theme in her work is Stein's concept of "swing" as metaphor for collaborative learning dynamics, which she develops through publications and presentations on faculty metacognition.
- Professional Memberships: American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT), The American Philosophical Association (APA), International Association for the Study of the Philosophy of Edith Stein (IASPES)
Her doctoral dissertation at Duquesne University examined Edith Stein's informal ethic of harmony between internal beliefs and external actions, continuing her legacy of integrating faith and academic rigor.
