Judith E. Quaranta

Judith E. Quaranta is an Associate Professor at the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Binghamton University. A pediatric nurse since 1979, she holds certifications in pediatrics (1995), asthma education (2009), and is a Distinguished Fellow in the National Academies of Practice in Nursing. She has taught nursing since 1998, focusing on asthma management and community health initiatives.

Research Interests: Asthma management in pediatric populations, community health interventions, healthcare delivery systems, and adolescent health behaviors. She pioneered integrating the Open Airways for Schools program into nursing education, training students to implement asthma management in elementary schools since 2000. Her work also includes GIS mapping to identify asthma clusters in Head Start populations and studies on adverse childhood experiences' impact on asthma control.

Advising & Partnerships: Collaborates with local schools, Head Start programs, and public health departments to sustain asthma education initiatives. Key Contributions: Authored a 2018 book on asthma management for Western Schools and presented at national conferences like the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting and the C2U Expo 2017 in Vancouver.
