Judith Caballero is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages at Millsaps College, specializing in Early Modern Peninsular Theater, Colonial Literature, and Linguistics. She integrates theater and performance into language education, emphasizing student engagement through skits, documentaries, and cross-cultural dialogues. Her work bridges academic rigor with creative pedagogy, including coordinating student exchanges with Marista University in Mérida and leading study abroad programs in Spain and Mexico.
Education: She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Hispanic Literature (University of Arizona), a B.F.A. in Theater Arts Education, and a B.A. in Spanish, all from the University of Arizona, plus an A.A. in Theater from Arizona Western College.
Research Interests: Focuses on early modern Iberian theater, colonial textual analysis, and linguistics. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes experiential learning, blending theater techniques with language instruction to foster cultural understanding. Recent publications explore themes like gender dynamics in comedia, historical medical debates in literature, and interdisciplinary studies celebrating scholars like Amy Williamsen.
