Prof. Judit Sándor is a full professor at Central European University (CEU) holding simultaneous appointments in the Departments of Political Science, Law, and Gender Studies. She is currently serving as a visiting professor at the University of Zurich within the URPP Human Reproduction programme.
Research interests lie at the intersection of human rights, bioethics and medical law, with particular attention to the ethical, legal and social implications of biotechnology. She is the founding director of CEU’s Center for Ethics and Law in Biomedicine (CELAB), which conducts cross-disciplinary research on these themes.
Prof. Sándor is also a co-investigator on the European Research Council Synergy grant “LEVIATHAN – Taming the European Leviathan”, examining post-war medicine and the common good. She has published extensively in Hungarian, English and French, and serves as editor of several leading journals in health law and bioethics.
Previous roles include head of the Bioethics Division at UNESCO (2004–2005), member of the Hungarian Ethics Council for Science and Research, and member of the Hungarian Commission for Human Reproduction.
