Dr. Judah Viola is a tenured Professor in the Department of Psychology at National Louis University's College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences. He currently chairs the PhD program and has held leadership roles including department chair, school director, and college dean. His expertise spans community psychology, program evaluation, qualitative research methods, and community collaboration.
Dr. Viola earned his Ph.D. in Community Psychology from DePaul University (2006), an MA from DePaul (2003), and a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1999). His research focuses on healthy communities, civic engagement, and marginalized populations, with studies on urban education for students with disabilities, substance abuse aftercare, affordable housing, and posttraumatic growth among first responders.
He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Prevention and Intervention in the Community and holds fellowships with the Midwestern Psychological Association and SCRA (APA Division 27). His recent publications emphasize relational ethics in community psychology, posttraumatic growth, and global community practice.
Dr. Viola consults with nonprofits, public agencies, and educational institutions on evaluation and community-building initiatives. His work bridges academic research with practical solutions for social challenges in healthcare access, education equity, and urban development.
