Juan Vicente Riera Clapés

Dr. Juan Vicente Riera Clapés is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He holds a Degree in Mathematics from the University of Salamanca and a PhD in Mathematics from UIB. Currently, he teaches courses in Primary Education and the Master's Degree in Teacher Training, focusing on Mathematics didactics, educational research, and practical placements. His research expertise lies in fuzzy logic, logic operators, discrete fuzzy numbers, and decision-making processes, contributing to the Soft Computing, Image Processing and Aggregation (SCOPIA) research group. He has published in international journals, reviewed for peer-reviewed publications, and organized conference sessions. He has directed multiple final year dissertations and master’s theses. His academic career includes two six-year research periods and three five-year teaching periods.

Teaching roles span subjects such as 'Didactics of Mathematics,' 'Mathematics in Primary Education,' and 'Educational Research and Innovation.' He has been actively involved in teacher training programs as a coordinator, speaker, and participant. His office hours require prior booking, and he is based in Office 214 at the Anselm Turmeda campus.

Professional affiliations include membership in UIB’s research groups and participation in academic networks. Despite holding a secondary school teaching position, he is currently on leave of absence.
