Professor Juan Tony Guzmán serves as Professor of Music and Director of the Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Program at Luther College, holding the prestigious Weston Noble Endowed Chair in Music. An internationally recognized conductor and Dominican Republic native, he directs ensembles and teaches courses spanning jazz performance, world music, and music education methodologies.

Professor Guzmán's artistic research centers on Jazz performance traditions, Caribbean/Latin American music preservation through choral arranging, and ethnomusicological approaches to World Music education. His published arrangements with Boosey & Hawkes and Oxford University Press disseminate regional musical idioms globally while maintaining cultural authenticity.
As an educator, he directs the Luther College Jazz Orchestra (featuring a four-year international tour cycle) and Vocal Jazz Ensemble, teaching courses including History of Jazz and World Music Cultures. His international clinic schedule across six continents provides students with unparalleled exposure to global music practices and professional networks.
