معرفی
Dr. Juan Ianowski is a Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Medicine. His research focuses on epithelial solute transport mechanisms and their pathological implications, particularly in cystic fibrosis (CF) airway disease and insect diuresis. Collaborating with the Canadian Light Source (CLS), he has pioneered synchrotron-based imaging techniques to study live diseased tissues in swine models.
Research interests include:
- Cellular and molecular mechanisms of epithelial transport
- Pathobiology of CF airway disease
- Role of CFTR in ion homeostasis and secretion
- Neurobiology of diuresis in Rhodnius prolixus
- Development of synchrotron imaging for respiratory research
The 15 most recent publications demonstrate expertise in CFTR-related pathophysiology, ionocyte function, and synchrotron imaging applications. Articles span cystic fibrosis models, airway surface liquid regulation, and pharmacological interventions. Research trends emphasize cross-species comparisons of transport mechanisms and translational therapy development.
Dr. Ianowski leads a multidisciplinary team affiliated with the Respiratory Research Centre and collaborates extensively with synchrotron scientists. His work bridges basic science and clinical relevance through partnerships between clinicians and basic researchers at CLS. The laboratory maintains dual research programs in respiratory disease mechanisms and fundamental insect physiology, supported by grants from Cystic Fibrosis Canada and other agencies.
