Juan Canedo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky, affiliated with the Markey Cancer Center and UNITE Research Priority Area. His work spans cancer prevention, precision medicine, and addressing health disparities, particularly in Hispanic communities.

Dr. Canedo’s research focuses on community health, HPV-related cancers, and behavioral psychology. He leads studies on health literacy and cervical cancer screening in underserved populations. His projects integrate precision medicine with multilevel interventions to overcome cultural and systemic barriers.
His recent publications highlight trends in precision smoking treatment, HPV self-testing, and pandemic-era health behaviors. These works emphasize public health strategies, behavioral analysis, and community engagement, with keywords spanning precision medicine, oncology, and cultural studies.
Dr. Canedo has served as Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigator (CoI) on grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and Ohio State University. His projects include improving HPV testing adherence in Appalachia and mapping racial equity initiatives.
