Joyce Lim is a Lecturer in English Language and Applied Linguistics at Aston University's School of Social Sciences and Humanities. She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Cambridge, alongside a BA in English Literature (UC San Diego) and MA in English Education (Hankuk University).
Her research focuses on second language education and corpus linguistics, particularly using learner corpora to analyze language patterns and classroom applications. She co-leads the Aston Corpus Linguistics Research Group and serves as LSS PGR Senior Tutor and Employability Rep.
Recent research trends include syntactic complexity in L2 writing, corpus-based discourse analysis, and CALL integration. She has secured funding including a £10K grant (Study Smart 2) and a €250K EU project (TEFE A+).
Lim supervises four PhD students and teaches modules like Corpus Linguistics and Language Awareness. She chairs EuroCALL's CorpusCALL SIG and serves as an external examiner at the University of Central Lancashire.
