Dr. Joy DeSensi is a Professor of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and currently serves as Associate Dean of the Graduate School. She holds the title of Chancellor’s Professor and has held leadership roles including Department Head of Exercise, Sport, & Leisure Studies. Her primary affiliation is with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences.

Her research focuses on ethics in sport management, women’s roles in sport, diversity/inclusion, and sociological aspects of sport. She has pioneered work on ethical leadership frameworks and gender equity initiatives in athletic organizations.
Her publications emphasize moral responsibility in sport governance and have influenced national sport management curricula. She has served as editor for journals like Quest and Journal of Sport Management, and led organizations including the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education.
