Jotham Suez

Jotham Suez, PhD, MSc, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His research focuses on the human microbiome and its role in health and disease, particularly in metabolic and inflammatory conditions.

Dr. Suez investigates the complex interactions between the gut microbiome, environmental factors (such as diet and antibiotics), and the human host. He employs multi-omics analysis, clinical trials, and in vivo models to uncover mechanisms of host-microbiome-environment crosstalk.

His recent publications highlight critical issues in microbiome-based therapies, including the impact of artificial sweeteners on glucose metabolism, the efficacy and risks of probiotics and fecal microbiome transplantation, and the dynamics of the gut resistome.
