Dr. Joshua Zadro is a NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and USYD Robinson Fellow at the University of Sydney's School of Public Health, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. He completed his PhD in 2017 at the Faculty of Health Sciences, focusing on physical activity and low back pain. His research spans eHealth for equitable musculoskeletal care and reducing overuse of low-value treatments. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles and secured $8.4M in funding. Dr. Zadro teaches and supervises students across postgraduate programs, mentoring 10 current PhD and numerous master's students. He holds editorial roles at journals like Journal of Physiotherapy and BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders.
Dr. Zadro's research interests include strategies to improve healthcare equity and reduce overuse of medical interventions. He has led multiple grants, including NHMRC and MRFF-funded projects on musculoskeletal care models and telehealth. His awards include the Sydney Research Young Researcher of the Year (2023) and media engagement accolades from Wiser Healthcare. Collaborations span institutions globally, including Norway, Spain, and the U.S.
His work emphasizes translational research, bridging evidence-based practice and patient outcomes. Current projects include trials on early pain intervention post-knee replacement and scalable telehealth for shoulder pain. Dr. Zadro's contributions span clinical trials, editorial leadership, and policy-oriented research to enhance musculoskeletal healthcare quality and accessibility.
