Joshua Wheeler is an Associate Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the Department of English, part of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa and New Mexico State University. His work focuses on creative writing, documentary, and journalism, with a particular emphasis on essay forms and cultural critique.
Wheeler’s book Acid West: Essays (2018) was a finalist for the Western Writers Spur Award and New Mexico Book Award. His essays and features have appeared in prestigious outlets such as The Iowa Review, Southern Review, Harper's, and The New York Times.
He teaches a diverse range of courses, including creative nonfiction, experimental documentary, and immersive journalism. Notable courses include HNRS 2020: Immersion Journalism and ENGL 7001: The Protest Essay.
