Jordan Kisner is an Assistant Professor of English at Bowdoin College. She holds an MFA from Columbia University and an AB from Princeton University. Prior to Bowdoin, she served as the Bedell Distinguished Visiting Professor of Creative Nonfiction at the University of Iowa and taught in Columbia's nonfiction MFA program.

Her research focuses on cultural reporting, creative nonfiction, and the intersection of science with literary writing. Her work has appeared in prestigious outlets including New York Times Magazine, Atlantic, London Review of Books, and Harper’s Magazine. She hosts the Literary Hub podcast Thresholds.
Her writing has received accolades such as the Pushcart Prize and National Magazine Award recognition. She has held fellowships from the Black Mountain Institute, Hedgebrook, and the New York Public Library’s Cullman Fellowship.
Teaching emphasizes the political dimensions of personal essay writing and advanced techniques in science-oriented nonfiction. Current courses include ENGL 1200 - Introduction to Creative Nonfiction and ENGL 2855 - Advanced Creative Nonfiction: The Art of Writing about Science.
