Joshua Weis, M.D., is an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center's Department of Surgery and serves as clinical faculty at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Dallas. His expertise focuses on bariatric surgery, minimally invasive gastrointestinal procedures, robotic surgery, and complex hernia repairs. He holds a medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his residency at Parkland Hospital, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Weis is actively involved in surgical education, contributing to curriculum development and training programs such as the SAGES Advanced GI/MIS Certificate Program. He has pioneered robotic abdominal wall reconstruction techniques and specializes in revisional surgeries for patients with prior bariatric surgery complications. His research emphasizes surgical training standards, the integration of robotics in education, and resident well-being.
