Joshua St Pierre serves as Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Critical Disability Studies and Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts. His interdisciplinary work bridges political theory, disability studies, and feminist philosophy to critically examine communication disabilities within information societies.

Dr. St. Pierre founded Dysfluency Studies as a subfield analyzing communication breakdowns through disabled perspectives. His research challenges societal norms prioritizing speech speed and fluency, arguing these exclude disabled communicators. In Cheap Talk: Disability and the Politics of Communication, he critiques how digital platforms and speech pathology create exclusionary environments while exploring crip strategies for transformative communication.
