Dr. Joshua S. Nunziato serves as Associate Teaching Professor in the Social Responsibility and Sustainability Division of the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He additionally holds the position of Faculty Director of Sustainable Leadership, where he develops and implements programming on ethical leadership through Leeds' Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility.
Professor Nunziato teaches sustainability and ethical leadership courses to undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA students across multiple degree programs. His research investigates how market exchanges mediate non-transactional human values such as intimacy, authenticity, fairness, and solidarity. His scholarly work bridges philosophical inquiry with business practice, examining how commercial transactions shape human values and social relations in ways that either support or undermine sustainability.
Professor Nunziato earned his PhD in philosophy from Villanova University, providing a strong theoretical foundation for his interdisciplinary approach to business ethics. His research portfolio includes a 2020 book published by Cambridge University Press and multiple articles in journals including Business Ethics Quarterly, with additional work under review covering diverse topics from sex work to pop music—all examining how human values irreducible to marketplace value are enabled or disenabled through exchange.
As Faculty Director of Sustainable Leadership, he oversees programming that extends business ethics education beyond traditional classroom settings. His work demonstrates how acknowledging the mediation of human values through market exchanges is vital for creating more sustainable business practices and a more just society.
